1.1 THE C CHARACTER SET

C uses the uppercase letters A to Z, the lowercase letters a to z, the digits 0 to 9 ,certain special characters (all characters that are present in your keyboard) as building blocks to form basic program elements.

C uses certain combinations of these charcters such as \b,\n and \t, to represent special conditions such as backspace,newline and horizontal tab respectively.These character sequences are known as escape sequences.
